Queens Trust Statement

The Queens Trust Committee are extremely disappointed in the Boxing Day actions of both Queen of the South FC and George Galloway. Firstly, these actions breached the Scottish Government Covid regulations that we have all been abiding by to keep our loved ones and communities safe. Secondly, these actions demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the loyal Queen of the South fans, many of whom had also been hoping to attend the game on Boxing Day.

Poor communication, a lack of transparency around the running of the Club and ever dwindling crowds are sadly now standard for Queens. This latest shameful decision has badly damaged the reputation of the Club and left many fans furious. There is a huge amount of goodwill towards Queen of the South FC amongst the communities of Dumfries and Galloway and it is time that community faith in the Queens Board is restored. The divide between the loyal fans and the Club must be bridged by a new culture of inclusivity, transparency, and supporter representation. Our much-loved Club is struggling, both on and off the pitch, and the time for change is now.

The Queens Trust recently invited local schools to take part in a card / poster competition to celebrate our much loved mascot, Dougie the Doonhamer, turning 21.

Susanne Dobbie kindly judged the competition and picked 3 winners. The winners were…

Ruairidh Tennant p2 Calside

Each winner got a Dougie / Queen of the South Goodie bag and also won a prize for their school.

Well done the winners the posters look fantastic and thank you to all the others that entered as well. Dougie loved all your cards.

Winners of the 4 Queen of the South season tickets drawn at the Queens Trust meeting at the Queens Arena on Thursday 5th July 2018 were:

Junior Blue: Craig McWilliam
Junior Blue: Jack Johnstone
Concession: Jackie Hair
Adult: Paul Crosbie

A huge thank you to all who have joined or renewed their membership in the last month. It has once again been a great show of support for the Trust. Before the draw we got to 161 Queens Trust members signed up. This was up on last years number which was 147 but still a little down on the 201 we had at this time 2 years ago.

We would love to get the membership back up to nearer or even over 200 so we have decided to run another promotion for a mystery prize which will be drawn from all 2018 and 2018/19 current members and all the new members that join before our next meeting which will be on the 17th August. So if you have not yet joined please do for your chance to win and help us get back to closer to 200 members.

Many thanks again to everyone and here is to an entertaining season ahead!
